From Kitchen to Courtside: Ayesha Curry’s First Meal for Steph Curry

Ayesha Curry, now a renowned cookbook author and restaurateur, recently shared a sweet story about her culinary beginnings. Appearing on Watch What Happens Live, the 34-year-old pregnant star reminisced about the first meal she ever cooked for her husband, Steph Curry (35).

Their love story has deep roots, as Ayesha and Steph met as teenagers at their church youth group in Charlotte, North Carolina, and eventually married in 2011.

Sparked by a “random” Southern seasoning gift from Steph’s father, Ayesha’s culinary journey took flight. “I made some chicken with that, some rice, and asparagus,” she shared, referencing her upcoming Netflix film, Irish Wish.

This anecdote wasn’t the only cooking memory Ayesha shared on the show. She also discussed a later experience – preparing a meal for former President Barack Obama during his visit to her San Francisco restaurant, International Smoke, on President’s Day in 2019.

“Everything was nerve wracking,” she laughed.

But the most anxiety-producing moment of the dinner was a party trick almost gone wrong.

“I sabered a bottle of champagne and I for some reason blacked out and forgot that I was standing right behind his head,” Ayesha explained to the shocked host and her fellow guest. “So Secret Service was kind of inching in and I didn’t realize until after.”

She impressed Cohen and Awkwafina even more by revealing that she can saber a bottle of champagne with an iPhone.

On March 1, Ayesha and Steph announced that they were expecting another baby in the cover story of Ayesha’s Sweet July Magazine.

“For so many years, Stephen and I thought we were done,” she wrote in a letter published on the Sweet July site. “We said, ‘Three, that’s it, we’re not doing this again.’ And then, last year, we looked at each other and agreed we wanted to do this again.”

The pair are already parents to daughters Riley, 11, and Ryan, 8, as well as son Canon, 5.
