Following the recent NBA Trade Deadline 2024, both the Golden State Warriors and the Los Angeles Lakers have been relatively quiet in the trade market, choosing to place their trust in their existing rosters rather than pursue any major deals. However, behind the scenes, discussions between the two teams nearly resulted in a seismic blockbuster that could have reshaped the entire league landscape.

According to reports from ESPN, the Golden State Warriors initiated contact with Lakers owner Jeannie Buss, expressing their interest in acquiring LeBron James to join forces with Stephen Curry. The conversation began with a call from Warriors owner Joe Lacob to Buss, proposing the idea of bringing LeBron to Golden State. However, Buss made it clear that any potential deal would only be considered if LeBron himself expressed a desire to leave the Lakers.

Subsequently, the Warriors were directed to LeBron’s agent, Rich Paul of Klutch Sports, to further explore the possibility. However, it was communicated back to the Warriors that LeBron had no intention of leaving the Lakers and was not open to playing for another team.

Interestingly, it was revealed that Draymond Green, a close confidant of LeBron James and represented by the same agent, also played a role in attempting to facilitate the move. Green privately reached out to Rich Paul, expressing his desire to see LeBron join forces with Curry in Golden State. Additionally, Green was among the players who advocated for the acquisition of LeBron to Warriors owner Joe Lacob.
