Stephen Curry may have a budding volleyball star in the making! The NBA legend, aged 35, is sharing insights into his 11-year-old daughter Riley’s growing interest in sports. In an exclusive interview with PEOPLE, Curry reveals that Riley’s enthusiasm for athletics is becoming increasingly evident, and it’s starting to remind him of his own drive.

“I’ve introduced them to pretty much every sport,” Curry explains. “But Riley, she’s really taken to volleyball lately, and there was a moment this year where it just clicked for her. She’s excited about going to practice, practicing dribbling or passing the ball around the house, and all that. She’s discovered something she’s passionate about and is putting in the work.”

Curry, speaking with PEOPLE ahead of his Apple+ documentary Stephen Curry: Underrated, notes the diverse interests of his younger two children. Alongside his wife Ayesha, 34, Curry shares Riley, son Canon, 4, and daughter Ryan, 7.

He mentions, “When it comes to their individual interests, they’re pretty scattered.” “So we’re not quite sure yet what those one or two things might be,” he adds regarding the youngest children’s pursuits. “They’re still quite young, so we have ample time to explore that.”

Nevertheless, Curry finds joy in observing Riley’s growing passion for volleyball. “Seeing that ‘aha’ moment and that level of focus, where you recognize a bit of yourself,” he elaborates, “and striving to nurture that as much as possible.”

In his latest film, Curry’s children make appearances, including a scene where they are seen doing homework alongside him as he works towards his graduation from Davidson College, which he achieved in August 2022.
