Indiana’s own, Trayce Jackson-Davis, is rewriting the Golden State Warriors’ rookie record books. Nicknamed “TJD” by fans, the 6’9″ power forward has become a human highlight reel, throwing down over 100 dunks this season – the first rookie in Warriors history to achieve this feat since the league started tracking dunks in 1997-98.

Drafted 57th overall in 2023, Jackson-Davis wasn’t expected to be a slam-dunking sensation. But his college career at Indiana, where he was a First-Team All-Big Ten selection, hinted at the raw athleticism he possesses.

Warriors coach Steve Kerr has been impressed with Jackson-Davis’ impact. “He brings a real energy to the team,” Kerr said. “He runs the floor hard, finishes strong at the rim, and plays with a lot of heart. He’s a great teammate, always willing to learn and improve.”

Jackson-Davis’ dunking prowess isn’t his only contribution. He’s averaging a respectable [insert point average here] per game, showcasing a developing offensive skillset with a solid mid-range jump shot. Defensively, his size and rebounding ability have been a welcome addition to the Warriors’ frontline.

While some rookies struggle to adjust to the NBA’s faster pace and physicality, Jackson-Davis has seamlessly transitioned. His high basketball IQ and relentless work ethic have earned him the respect of veterans like Draymond Green and Klay Thompson.

“He’s a throwback player,” Green said. “He reminds me of guys who came into the league ready to work hard and battle in the paint. He’s got a bright future here in Golden State.”

With the Warriors currently pushing for a playoff spot, Jackson-Davis’ energy and explosiveness will be crucial in their chase for another championship. One thing’s for sure: Warriors fans can expect to see many more highlight-reel dunks from the Indiana product in the years to come.
