The Los Angeles Lakers fell to the Golden State Warriors 134-120 on Tuesday night on their home floor at Crypto.com Arena.

During this week’s episode of the Mind the Game podcast, Lakers star LeBron James explained to J.J. Reddick why it’s so difficult to guard the Warriors and star point guard Stephen Curry.

“You have to have reps and reps and reps and reps of actually guarding something uncomfortable,” James said around the 35:15 mark. “Guarding Steph is uncomfortable, and the problem with our guys in our league, they’re not comfortable being uncomfortable. And that’s why Steph and Golden State will always be relevant, because they play an uncomfortable style of play.”

When asked if he hates the Warriors’ style of play, James responded, “I hate it when you don’t have the personnel to matchup. I hate it.”

James’ game-high 33 points weren’t enough to get past Curry and the Warriors. Klay Thompson led Golden State with 27 points, while Curry added 23 points on an efficient 7-of-9 from the field while making all six of his three-pointers.

The loss by the Lakers dwindled their lead over the Warriors to a half-game for the No. 9 spot in the Western Conference. Both teams are playing for seeding in the play-in tournament at this point, as the seventh through 10th spots in the West are separated by just two games.

James and the Lakers will look to bounce back when they face the Memphis Grizzlies in the penultimate game of the regular season on Friday.
