In the spirit of giving that defines the holiday season, philanthropists Ayesha and Stephen Curry have once again stepped up to the plate, joining the fight against a looming $14 million crisis in Alameda County. Because of the pandemic’s reverberations, one in four area residents is facing food insecurity.

Every week, over a million meals are being delivered by the Alameda County Community Food Bank. With a 30 percent year-over-year falloff in fundraising, the food bank received some rays of hope from the Curry family.

Curry’s Foundation matches $250K for Food Bank

Through their famous Eat. Learn. Play. Foundation, Ayesha and Stephen Curry announced that they’ll match every dollar you donate to the food bank, up to a whopping $250,000. The initiative, to be completed by December 31st, seeks to narrow the growing gap between supply and demand, says Alameda County Community Food Bank’s Executive Director, Regi Young.

According to CBS News, He said, “One of the great foundations of our region, Stephen and Ayesha Curry’s Eat Learn Play foundation. has decided they will match dollar-for-dollar—up to $250,000—any donations that come to our food bank until December 31st. This is huge news for us.”
