Kevin Durant Reflects on Tough Childhood: “If You Didn’t Work Till Dark, You Weren’t Eating.”

Kevin Durant is one of the greatest players that the NBA has ever produced. The two-time NBA Finals MVP is currently a member of the Brooklyn Nets. He had been a part of the Golden State Warriors, as well.

However, it wasn’t easy for him to achieve the level of success that he has now. His childhood was one of struggle. Durant spoke about his past in an interview and the difficulties he faced when he was growing up.

In an interview with Grow, Durant described his childhood and the struggles he experienced, as well as the investments he made to become one of the richest players in NBA history.

He spoke about the sacrifices that his mother and he made for each other during his formative years.

“Hard work! Plain and simple. It was so clear to me at a young age that if you didn’t get up every day and work till it was dark, you weren’t eating. So working hard and never cutting corners wasn’t even a question for me because we were starving”, Durant said.

He also talked about his profession, stating that he is grateful for the luxury he has gained through this career, which is a result of the popularity of the game. When asked about these investments, Durant insisted on doing the research before you spend your money, or choose to support a business.

Moreover, he also highlighted the importance of saving money.

As of this season, Durant has invested in 80 companies. Through his Nike partnership, he will earn around $36 million.
