After the Golden State Warriors pulled off an upset against the Boston Celtics at the Chase Center in San Francisco, 4-year-old Canon, son of Stephen Curry, displayed his newfound admiration for his dad’s teammate, Klay Thompson. In an adorable video shared by the NBA account on Instagram, Canon is seen enthusiastically greeting Los Angeles native Klay Thompson while holding Curry’s hand, as they seemingly head towards the locker room after the game. Meanwhile, amidst celebrating his brother-in-law Damion Lee’s game-winning shot, Stephen Curry playfully rouses his son from sleep.

Thompson, 32, said to Canon, “Hey, what’s up man?” to the amusement of many who saw the adorable moment.

Curry, 34, and Thompson have spent more than a decade together as Warriors teammates. The NBA declared on Tuesday that Thompson has “surpassed 2000 career triples,” making him the 13th player in league history.

Curry and his wife Ayesha Curry have two daughters, Riley, 10, and Ryan, 7. They also have a dog named Canon.

The four-time NBA champion revealed what his kids thought of him in an interview with E! News earlier this month at the Sports Illustrated Sportsperson of the Year Awards.

The evening’s honoree, Curry, was asked if his kids were as “impressed” with him “as other people are.” He replied, “I would hope to say yes but probably for different reasons.” The number of times the ball is put in the basket doesn’t seem to concern them too much.

“They enjoy the festivities of celebrating a championship,” the father of three continued, adding that they had attended a few parades and other events. The best thing of being at home, though, is that you’re just Dad.

You get to see them develop, discover who they are, and support and enjoy themselves as they do it. More than anything, he said, they enjoy my goofiness and the way you just show up at home.

Regarding if his kids are future athletes, he stated that Ryan “is still figuring out if sports is her thing or not” and Riley is “interested in volleyball right now.” Clearly, there is no right or wrong response in the situation.

Additionally, he stated that Canon appears to be “quite athletic,” but he ended by saying that there is no pressure in either case. All we want is for them to discover their passion and have our support.

Curry called his family “the gas in the engine” for providing him with “the space to invest in my craft, and the amount of sacrifice it takes to work at that level, but also the unconditional support of wins, losses, great games, bad games, they’re there and I hope to be there for them in all that life throws at us.” Curry also thanked his family for their support throughout his career.

Although he acknowledged that basketball “is going to end at some point,” he is excited to tell his kids about his experiences.
