There have been many talks of Klay Thompson leaving the Golden State Warriors, so who could step up if he does end up walking away.

The Warriors had one of the best rookies in the NBA this past season in Brandin Podziemski, and he could step up big this upcoming season. Even if Thompson does not end up leaving, the second-year guard could get more minutes.

He averaged nine points and six rebounds with some solid shooting percentages in his first season in the league. But over the course of the season, his numbers got better, and he became more consistent.

Podz is a hand-in-glove fit with the Warriors system, as he shot just under 40 percent from beyond the arc on three attempts per game. His rookie campaign was one of the best, and he has a good chance to make the All-Rookie First Team as a result.

If Klay ultimately decides to take his talents elsewhere in free agency, the Warriors might already have the guy who is going to step up after he leaves. In just his second season, Podziemski could prove to be invaluable to his team’s success.
