NBA brothers Stephen Curry and Seth Curry share a profound connection as each other’s primary sources of support and inspiration.
Stephen, the elder of the two by a little over two years, entered the NBA first, earning widespread acclaim as the point guard for the Golden State Warriors. Seth acknowledges both the advantages and challenges of being known as the younger brother of the two-time MVP. While this association undoubtedly opened doors for him, as he discussed on Draymond Green’s podcast, Seth also values the invaluable lessons he’s learned from Stephen’s experiences.
“Learning from Steph, being able to ask him questions, following his journey,” Seth shared with Green. “I have someone who has endured many challenges, and I can tap into his knowledge… being able to ask him questions, following his journey,” he added. “And, most importantly, observing his actions and incorporating them into my own.”
Despite the benefits of their familial connection, Seth acknowledges the importance of proving himself based on his own merits. “You have to perform consistently, you have to contribute, or they’ll find someone else,” he emphasized.
In recent times, Seth has established himself as a standout player in his own right. His remarkable three-point shooting percentage ranks among the best in NBA history, and his contributions were instrumental in the Brooklyn Nets’ appearance in the 2023 NBA playoffs.
Although there may be occasional sibling rivalry when the brothers face off in NBA matchups, Stephen understands the complexity of wishing for his brother’s failure when his own success may be at stake.
“I can’t suppress that natural instinct, in that moment, to cheer for him, even if I know it might harm me,” he confessed to Good Morning America before their teams clashed in the Western Conference Finals in 2019.
From their shared upbringing in athletics to their individual journeys in basketball and personal lives, the narrative of Stephen and Seth Curry serves as a testament to the enduring bond between siblings united by their passion for the game.
